So if you're looking for an action-RPG (i.e. Zenonia, Kingdom Hearts, etc.) I would strongly recommend checking that out. And if you want something more of a classic RPG (i.e. Ar nosurge, Final Fantasy Tactics, etc.) then I recommend paying attention to the Nikoli Corporation's lineup of games and seeing which ones you like.
Not too long ago, I thought I'd give Samurai Warriors a try. Turns out that this franchise is like your run-of-the-mill JRPG. The game's story and character dialog are absolutely atrocious. The battle system is fairly simplistic and the gameplay is by far the most shallow JRPG I've ever played. As a whole, Samurai Warriors is too similar to other game series in the genre, thus making the overall experience boring, repetitive and dull. I had fun for the first two hours but then after that, I lost interest. Despite this, I have a soft spot for the game series so I kept at it in an attempt to get to the ending. Surprisingly, the ending was very disappointing. Most endings are typical JRPG fare, but I was actually shocked by the ending as it somewhat hinted at the existence of another Samurai Warriors game in the works. That's right. I've been played so long for the sake of this game series, that I'm sure that Level-5 are working on a sequel. In a real-life scenario, I'd have already beaten the game (i.e. not beaten in the sense of defeating the final boss, but beaten in the sense of finding all of the hidden items and completing the game in one sitting) before they'd even completed it. Still, it's good to know that it's in the works.
